Masjid Agung Demak is one of the oldest mosques in Indonesia. The mosque is located in the village of Kauman, Demak, Central Java. This mosque has been a gathering place for scholars (Trustee) who spread Islam in Java called Wali Sanga. The founder of the mosque was estimated is Raden Patah, the first King of Demak Sultanate around the 15th century AD.
The mosque has a mains building and porch. Mains building has 4 main pillars called saka guru. Building the porch is open. The roof in the shape of a sustained eight pole limas called Saka Majapahit. Limas Mosque roof consists of three parts that depict; (1) faith, (2) Islam, Ihsan and (3). At the mosque, there is "The Bledeg", contains candra sengkala, readable Naga Mulat Salira Wani, with meaning 1388 Saka or 1466 M, or 887 H.
